Meeting of the Deep Cuts Commission in Hamburg
On February 26-28 and March 4-6, Deep Cuts Commissioners and Friends of the Commission met at Hamburg for two issue-specific workshops. The first workshop focused on the issue of "Avoiding Strategic Instability" and dealt with the topics of the INF Treaty, the vertical cruise missile proliferation, preventing dangerous military incidents in the nuclear realm, strategic arms control beyond 2021, the impact of U.S. and Russian nuclear modernizations as well as strategic and theater missile defense. The second workshop concentrated on the issue of "Improving European Security" and featured the topics of the future of West-Russian relations, NATO-Russian relations, the OSCE arms control instruments, hybrid warfare and the security situation around the Baltic sub-region. The discussions will provide the basis for the forthcoming Third Report of the Deep Cuts Commission. Please find below images of the two meetings.
